“Winter Solstice Bonus 2016” is a winter solstice episode set between episodes ninety-two and ninety-three of season one of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on December 26, 2016.

Description

“A new song and a big announcement you’re going to want to hear. The regular show will be back next week.”

Summary

Arnie, Chunt, and Usidore wish each other a happy Winter Solstice, though Arnie admits that he still doesn’t fully understand Winter Solstice. They discuss other holidays that occur during the Winter Solstice, including Vilipikitini and Juanukkah.

Arnie reveals that he misses people at home on Earth at this time of year and Usidore offers to play a resonance stone that contains a song. In the recording, Spants introduces a dwarfling choir who sing about grabbing a cup of cheer during the Winter Solstice.

Here we are in the Winter Solstice
Everybody's favorite time of year
Here we are in the Winter Solstice
Come on, gather 'round, grab a cup of cheer
Wait a minute, what's that you say?
A cup of cheer? Could you please explain?
When you're here in the Winter Solstice
You traditionally grab a cup of cheer
It's a drink full of warmth and happiness
That we like to have this time of year
Hold up a sec, I gotta ask —
How'd you get happiness in that flask?
You should never ask too many questions
That's considered rude this time of year
It's best to join us in the Winter Solstice
And blindly accept our cup of cheer
Oh no, nuh uh, I don't trust that shit
How come no one's actually drinking it?
We your friends of the Winter Solstice
Want to be polite and wait for you
If we started drinking our cups before you
This would be inherently very rude
Fine, I'll drink it if you drink it first
If you won't drink it then I'll know it's cursed
Of course, indeed, we will definitely drink it
Here we go now, everyone
Bottoms up, we'll drink together
Come on, let's do it in three, two — oh, look over there!
What? What is it? Oh, wait a minute…
Oh, look at that, you missed our drinking
And there's nothing left for us to drink
Come on now, we made a bargain
Take a little sip, tell us what you think
I don't know… This seems suspicious
Hey! Wait a second! Stay back! Stay back! What are you doing?
Here we are in the Winter Solstice
Everybody's favorite time of year
Your drinks! They're all on the floor! The floor's soaked and your drinks…
It's the best, it's the Winter Solstice
Time to make another cup of cheer
Stay away! My soul! They're sucking out my soul…

It’s one of Chunt’s favorite songs; Arnie remarks that so many holiday songs in Foon are depressing if you listen to the lyrics, like the ones on Earth.

Chunt reveals that around this time of year about twenty years ago his grandmother was run over by a cart pulled by a reindeer.

Arnie receives a gift of socks from Chunt. Usidore also got him socks. It turns out that giving socks and clothes in Foon is a risky business.

As they have been receiving lots of packages from Earth, Chunt says he will put up some photos on his Instagram, @chuntbaby.

Metamore is invited to join the hosts; he is currently in the middle of an Offices and Bosses campaign. Arnie suggests that they take some time this week to play some Offices and Bosses and record it as a spin-off podcast. It's a Chris-Must miracle — this is what Chunt asked Chris for! Usidore is excited to play as John Bastion again.

Arnie suggests that people sent gifts such as clothes and socks to charities on Earth rather to him, though he is deeply appreciative of the gesture.

The episode ends with a rousing rendition of the Hollerdays song.
