"Boys Night: Bloke's Mourning" is a Patreon bonus episode of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on November 11, 2021.

Description

Arnie, Chunt, and Usidore are having fun by themselves…or are they in grave danger?

Summary

During Arnie’s Patreon intro, Usidore argues the semantics of saying “Patreon” when the only people who will listen to the episode are Patreon Supporters. Although Chunt suggests a compromise to change "Hello from the Magic Tavern" to "Pello Prom Phe Pagic Pavern", Arnie makes no change.

As they are not doing a main feed episode and not obligated to have a guest, the hosts decide to do an old-fashioned Boys’ Night. However, Arnie’s throat voice is a little strained, so he cannot do as of a robust “Boys’ Night” call. Chunt suggests the alternative, Lads’ Afternoon, but Usidore notices the men next to them, grieving their friend in a Blokes’ Mourning. Chunt, Arnie, and Usidore give a Respectful Blokes’ Mourning and quietly does a Boys’ Night while their tables are next to the blokes.

Chunt brings out a sleeping back for the three of them to share and have a sleepover (or an orgy). They mention spooky tails (like Séance’s), games, where they’ll be buried when they die. Usidore brings up that he has a ghost dentist, constantly working on his mouth with his family moved in. The last time Chunt has seen a dentist was when he was the King of the Badger. Still, Chunt decides to lay a rose that he took from the blokes’ table for the dead tooth that the ghost dentist is working on.

On the topic of ghosts, Usidore asks Chunt when the last time Chunt has talked to his dad, which was around last Chris-Must. Chunt writes a letter to make sure that it is not too late to talk to him. When Chunt gets kisses from the rose he put by Usidore’s tooth grave, Arnie brings up that every rose has its thorns, which Chunt and Usidore get nervous that the rose could be poisoned, prompting Usidore to yell to see how the blokes’ friend, Jim, died (he was hit by a horse). Chunt hypothesizes that it was by Sylvester, the Horse Bartender, and sees another dead body on the floor by the blokes, who tried to threaten the guys but ended up slitting his own throat.

Arnie goes to grab drinks for the table and runs into a logger that he starts to sweet talk. Meanwhile, Usidore whispers to Chunt that the blokes may be assassins. Chunt suggests that Usidore puts up a protective dome. Arnie comes back, but not before mistakenly sitting at another table with a skunk named West and an old lady named Virginia. Usidore puts up the dome with "clearly succinct" assistance from Chunt and Arnie. Chunt relays to Arnie about the dumb assassins or "dumbasses". Unfortunately, Chunt did not go to the bathroom before the dome went up. Usidore reassures Chunt, saying that the assassins aren't very smart and he can safely go using the badger flap in the dome, only for Usidore to tell Arnie that he was lying about the assassins to make Chunt feel better. Arnie is mulling over his "Chuntry Roads" line and hopes that Chunt got it.

Arnie takes his turn to the bathroom when Chunt admits to humoring Arnie about singing the tune to "Country Roads". It is on brand for the group as bemusing jokes is the crux of the show. Arnie comes back to the table after mistakenly going to the wrong table again where he found out that Virginia is a mountain mama. Thinking about the logistics of giving birth to a mountain, the phrase "no dying" sparks the blokes’ attention and they start surrounding the safety dome and try to enter through the badger flap.

Arnie realized that he never gave the group their drinks, but goes outside the protection of the dome again when he gets the orders wrong. Usidore and Chunt then witness Arnie being stabbed by the blokes. Chunt assumes that Arnie is being hit with retractable knives, but is horribly mistaken. When he comes back, Arnie is already too used to being stabbed, even by friends, and invites Usidore and Chunt to give it a try. Afterwards, Usidore heals him with a spell, but Arnie still has a sore throat.

Tired of being respectful to the blokes mourning their friends, Arnie suggest that they give a full throated "Boys’ Night". The rally cry takes the blokes aback, which Usidore suggest they bellow out more to defeat the blokes for good. In one last powerful "Boys' Night", the blokes disintegrate. However, a new group of mourners come in to mourn the original mourners, putting the three in a strange, paradoxical loop. To break the cycle, Usidore suggests taking an olive branch and making the mourners trip on it while they escape. Arnie is a little saddened, as The Parasocial is their favorite tavern in town. Usidore then suggests they wear disguises if they want to come back, only for them to realize that the skunk, the old lady, and the logger are Chunt, Usidore, and Arnie, respectively. Arnie pauses the conversation to recall more lyrics to "Country Roads" and the trio sings it to the end theme.
