D’athaniel Quen’yarvin is an Elvish archer from the village of L’Ori L’Oughlin, and is currently middle-aged at 334 years old. He is described as "circus freak tall, but it works."
D’athaniel Quen’yarvin is played by Tim Ryder.
History
He is not as skilled an archer as an elf is expected to be, and is mocked by his own people, who call him insulting names like Willowarms or Legman. They would also summon eagles to mock him, as his name is very similar for the command to call an eagle. As a child, he was bullied and forced to do arts and crafts while the other children had recess.
His father, Darth'raniel Quen'yarvin, disappeared when DQ was only 130 years old. His mother told him that "the trees took [his father]", which he interpreted literally. Initially, DQ wanted to take revenge on the trees for "taking" his father by shooting them with a wooden arrow, wounding them with the carved body of their kin. This quest of revenge was encouraged by his people, who really just wanted him to leave for any reason.
In DQ's second appearance, he reveals that he confirmed with his mother that his parents actually separated, as suspected by the hosts in his first appearance. He no longer has a quarrel with the trees as a result.
His new quest is to become an entrepreneur, and he has started a woodworking business called Elf on a Shelf Furniture. He turns the trees he has kicked down into beautiful furniture, using a spike on his boot as a custom lathe. His shelves are particularly popular. His furniture is described as having a "beaten, weathered" look which appeals to Foonians.
He also teaches exercise classes once a week featuring rhythmic kicking, primarily for maidens who are "tired of boating," which was previously their primary source of exercise. He calls this practice Ti-bo.
DQ also knows a great many elven playground rhymes.
