Description

Usidore and Spintax celebrate the Winter Solstice their yearly clandestine holiday get-together!

Summary

Spoiler Warning for Season 3

Usidore is alone at a tavern at the feet of the Mountains of Itsak. He took Arnie’s recording equipment and snuck away from his friends so he could meet with Spintax the Green. Before Spintax left to go to Earth for his mission with the Void, Usidore and Spintax would meet in secret, setting aside their differences and politics, giving each other food, and sharing what they have learned about Winter Solstice holidays and traditions around Foon.

Spintax arrives in a big magical flame and joins Usidore at the table, who has been there for at least two hours. Usidore misses their annual encounter and notes that this is the first time they have been able to get together since Spintax came back to this dimension. While separated, Spintax had made a Usidore proxy using a lumpy blue couch from an IKEA in Burbank, California and Usidore painted a burlap sack full of dung and potato green, which has remained at their current tavern. Usidore asks what Spintax has been doing on Earth. Spintax shares his stories at the Hollywood Hills, his band of coyotes, and has written many books. He is planning a sequel to the Pandenomicon.

To kick off their celebration, Usidore gives Spintax a gift; a memory of his catching Arnie in the bathroom. Although he does not necessarily want it, he keeps it for future blackmail material. Usidore reminds Spintax of Arnie’s value, including quibbling over whether he had defeated the Dark Lord and how he wished that Spintax would acknowledge him for it. Spintax has already given his praise, raining down gold and flowers, albeit they were addressed as “To Spintax From: Usidore ''. But that is not the only gift Spintax has for Usidore. He sneaks a silver dagger into Usidore’s robes. If the dagger is ever lost, the smell of it will follow Usidore around, which Usidore Interrelates as a useful tool.

Usidore shares a new Winter Solstice tradition he learned from Benedict Whisperbrew while he was in Northeastia. On Winter Solstice Eve, the nobles come together, let out a little bit of blood, mix all the blood together and they all take a drink, allowing the bloodline to continue. Meanwhile, Spintax shares a holiday from Earth. He describes that episode of Seinfeld with Festivus, where “they had an aluminum pole and went around the group to air grievances”. Usidore suggests they try the latter where he admits he did not enjoy the gold goblets being rained on him and thought it was resentment from the gods. In turn, Spintax lashes out on Usidore, chiding the way his belt is tied unsymmetrically. Usidore tells him he is trying to be a bit more casual, but relents and turns his wizard hat from backwards to forwards. Spintax brags about his hat and how he reinforced it to be a helmet after he was stepped on by a grass troll.

Continuing their holiday, Usidore pulls out a solid hammer coated with chocolate to give to Spintax. It is a traditional treat in Gunder for Gunderstein. Spintax gives Usidore a peak at Roy, the scapegoat of the Fingarian Holiday. The Fingarians put all their problems on the scapegoat, stuff them, roast them, then eat them, absolving them from all their problems. As Usidore thanks Roy for his sacrifice, he starts to escape. Spintax was able to catch him and removed a leg. The wizards asks a passing cloud to drop him off back to Fingaria.

The wizards exchange their last gifts. For the wizard who has everything, Usidore gives Spintax a perfect miniature sculpture of Spintax. Spintax will use the miniature to visualize his dream to win a Wizards Choice Award so big he can be inside of it. Spintax has prepared a special treat for Usidore when he returns to Arnie and Chunt; Spintax has casted a spell on the two to reenact A Christmas Carol and three demons are terrorizing them until Usidore comes in to save them, making Usidore a hero in his friends’ eyes. Though there is only so much of a beating Arnie can take, Usidore and Spintax still have time to have some food and drink and celebrate their friendship. Usidore thanks the listeners for joining them on their holiday this year and Spintax instigates a snowball fight.

Space Bunker Plot

Craig and PV3 are driving across space in their Chevy Colorado to head to the Pleasure Planet for the Winter Solstice. Along with his side work with the Mysterious Man, he had also received a special Transmission from Foon.

After the Episode, PVS asks Craig if they can open up presents. Craig relents and PV3 receives a very expensive comb that Craig sold his watch for, despite PV3 not having hair.
