Description
We interview a mysterious guard with a vaguely familiar and unconvincing voice.
Summary
Hogsface is still imprisoned by the Dark Lord. Chunt has been befriending his guards. Usidore is still forced to drink a potion that prevents him from using magic, which also makes him lethargic and a terrible storyteller. Arnie realizes that there have been no guards outside his door so he could start walking around Hogsface and plan an escape.
They decide to interview a guard to get information that they could be useful in an escape. They get the guard Gregor to sit down and talk to them, but she reveals herself to be former sheriff Gianessa Relkorus. She’s been disguised as a man again to avoid capture by the Dark Lord’s forces, while her loathsome former deputy Dugwrenth has taken over her position.
Gianessa has been trying to get the townspeople to turn against the Dark Lord, but she hasn’t been able to earn their trust because of her disguise. The group give her tips so she can be more convincing as a man.
She’s also been making latrine hooch and shares it with the group. The hooch restores some of Usidore’s energy, but its effects are short-lived, so she promises to make more for him. Arnie wants to learn how to read glyphs to understand the tattoos Dark Lord’s on plans tattooed on Baron Ragoon, so Gianessa promises to sneak in a book on glyphs for him. Chunt asks her to sneak a book on rocks so Arnie can make better rock puns than “of quartz.”
Email: A pregnant listener thanks them for their amazing stories that have been helping her through her morning sickness. Chunt asks Usidore to tell an amazing story in his incoherent state. Arnie recounts an episode of Amazing Stories.
Email: A UK listener thanks them even though she’s 10 episodes in. Arnie remarks that they often get emails from new listeners who are not caught up to recent developments.
Email: A listener wants to get a Usidore t-shirt for his 11 year old son’s birthday, but he’s afraid that that he’ll be disappointed once he catches up to the podcast and learn that Usidore has become weak. He urges the group to escape and restore Usidore’s powers. Usidore says that there’s nothing wrong to admitting weakness, and Arnie stresses that they may be able to restore Usidore with Gianessa’s hooch.
