"Road Trip" is the fifty-fifth episode of season two of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on April 16, 2018.
Description
We’ve been cooped up in the tavern for too long. Time for a road trip! In our imaginations!
Summary
Arnie starts us off by introducing Usidore, who slips into the Wizard State just after he starts his name. After Chunt accuses Arnie of not knowing what Grindr is, Usidore finishes up his name, and Arnie reminds him that he wasn’t going to talk about his secret names. Chunt gets introduced and says that he just wants to listen to Usidore more, and cedes some of his time to Usidore.
“Blemish” comes over to the table with some cat fat fries for the boys. Chunt reminds them that they are still trying to wrap up the murderous plot against Mayor Manana. So they do. I guess. No pre-crime has been committed. The end.
Arnie says that he’s nervous about the citizenship test and confesses that he needs to start studying. Usidore suggest they go over some questions right now:
Who was the first King of Foon? Arnie answers “Good King Foon” and of course, it’s a lucky guess. Usidore asks him to name the four basic elements. Arnie says “positivity, sass, joie de vivre, and stank”. Usidore says that they are not the four elements, but the four attitudes.
Chunt asks him to name the six seasons, and Arnie does but not in the correct order. Chunt gives him a tip that if they ask for seven seasons, about 50 years ago there was a Vwishtash 2.0.
Usidore wants to know who the guest is, but Arnie didn’t get one this week. Arnie is feeling claustrophobic, so Chunt suggests getting out of the tavern. Let’s be honest… we all knew Arnie wasn’t going to go for that. “Blemish” comes by the table, and Arnie suggests a road trip, by which he means just sitting in his car inside the tavern. Yes, because that will help your claustrophobia, let’s sit inside of a smaller object inside of the room you are already in!
They agree begrudgingly, but Chunt asks “Blemish” for some snacky snacks first. Arnie tells Fangy Yelly that he wants some good snacks, not the kind Blemish would get for him. After the snack situation is settled, they all get into the car. Chunt calls “Shogun!” or….oops. “Shotgun!”
Usidore produces some miniscule lightning, and gets the battery working again, which means they can listen to some awesome royalty-free tunes! Chunt puts his feet up on the dashboard (carefully). Usidore finds some toilet paper and uses it to write some spells. Chunt starts a game of “11 Inquiries” to help the time pass, and uses this opportunity to also help Arnie study for the citizenship test.
The game….does not go well. Arnie suggests a new game - the Alphabet game. Chunt starts off with “Anaconda”, Arnie follows up with “Blemish”, Usidore comes up with “Centuries of history”. Arnie questions that, and is slightly disappointed that he didn’t use “Cat Dick”, but Chunt says “dick” will be his. Arnie says they don’t have to be in order. “Elf” is Chunt’s next offering. Arnie calls out “Foon”. Usidore sees some guys at the bar really getting along, “Gargantuan Friendships”-style, and follows up with “hot teas”. “Insane Crunching” comes next.
Arnie is disappointed with how the road trip is going. Usidore wants to know when they are actually leaving. Fangy Yelly comes up to the window and notices their boredom. She then asks if they want her to pretend to be a kid they hit with their car so they have to pretend to keep a secret. Arnie has had enough secret keeping, and just wants to keep pretending they are having an adventure.
Usidore asks for specifics on what kind of people go on these kinds of trips on Earth, and then decides that he will play the part of Divorced Father, Rick. Chunt compares this to Offices & Bosses. Chunt decides he will be Dylan, a really happy guy to offset Rick’s downtrodden attitude. Usidore changes his mind and decides he’s recently remarried to his brother’s son (“Blemish”) Wonder. They start making out in the back of the car.
Dylan goes on about how great their significant other is. Chunt suggests they take the top down, referring to Usidore’s top. Usidore does that, and then takes the top off the car as well. Usidore also mentions that his obsidian hand is now an obsidian arm. Chunt reminds him that he still has his horse tail, as well. Usidore knows how to turn his arm back to flesh and bone, but Arnie isn’t listening and Chunt calls him out on that. Chunt offers to play 11 Inquiries for them to guess who Chunt is dating.
After using 10 of their questions, Usidore postulates it’s either Pizza Skull or Twosidore. Arnie takes a chance and guesses Pizza Skull, but he’s wrong. Chunt tells them it’s Twosidore! As Usidore launches into a spiel about being vindicated and correct, Fangy Yelly, pretending to be a kid, runs into their car as if they hit it. They argue about what they should do (Chunt wants to hide the body, Arnie wants to see if they are okay first) and Usidore decides to save the child by hitting it with a magical rock.
Arnie decides they’ve been killing a lot of people, and they need to stop. Arnie declares “No one dies,” and Usidore wants to know if evil horses can be the exception. Arnie does not allow it. Chunt vows to uphold the new rule, as does Usidore.
Chunt brings up that they sort of glazed over the fact that he’s dating Twosidore. Arnie thought that it was Dylan that was dating Twosidore. Arnie freaks out a little and exits the car. Usidore says that Arnie is afraid of losing Chunt as a best friend now that he’s dating Twosidore.
Arnie comes back. Chunt wants to know what it would take for Arnie to get along with Twosidore. Arnie says that if it’s important to Chunt, he will do his best. Usidore tries to kill “Rick” off by drowning himself in pills, but Arnie reminds them that “no one dies!” Arnie convinces “Dylan” to save him, but “Dylan” just dives in after “Rick”. Arnie hypothetically pulls them out.
