"Doppelgänger" is the seventy-ninth episode of season two of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on October 1, 2018.
Description
Arnie, Chunt, and Usidore talk to Dopel the Doppelgänger, who can look like anyone.
Summary
Arnie is still struggling with the Vermilion Minotaur’s new name (Thank Vermilion Minotaur It’s Foon), but he’s come to terms with his role as Chunt’s best man. Chunt asks for help coming up with a wedding hashtag, and they settle on #Chusidore.
The lads are discussing their lack of a guest when they detect an echo from across the tavern. Its source introduces himself as Dopel, a Doppelgänger. While the Doppelgängers are a secretive family of spies, assassins, and masters of mimicry, Dopel was separated from his family as a child by his evil twin Ropel and raised in the sexy land of Swizzenbaum. As such, he has missed out on years of training, and his mimicry skills are a clear development opportunity. Now Dopel feels like a stranger in both worlds and longs to find his true identity.
Dopel asks for a mission to practice his Doppelgänger gifts, and the lads send him to the bar to pester Lurm, who has annoyed Usidore in some manner. Dopel takes Chunt’s form and approaches Lurm, who is confused and believes the newly engaged badger to be hitting on him.
Dopel revels in his success, but worries about falling into a life of killing for hire. Usidore suggests he become an intel spy and infiltrate Baron Ragoon’s castle to learn the secrets of the Dark Lord. Dopel pledges to join Usidore’s quest. In gratitude, Usi offers to murder Dopel’s evil twin Ropel.
