Description
Chunt and Usidore kick off the second season of Gettin’ Nuts with some help from Momo the Mouse and two very creepy twins.
Summary
In prose
Instead of an episode of Hello From the Magic Tavern, the Space Bunker has intercepted a transmission of Gettin' Nuts, but decide to pass it along anyway as transmitting podcasts and telling listeners other dimensions aren’t real is the only thing they can agree on these days. Stress with Emperor Craig's rule is climbing.
Chunt and Usidore are excited to be hosting the Gettin' Nuts season two premier from the Vermilion Minotaur. After wrapping up the major plot points in the season one finale, they’re ready for season two to be anything, and discuss new directions for the show. They also discuss their biggest fears.
Their first guest is Momo. Fears are on her mind seeing as how its Spooky Season.
Mom remains madly in love with Mayor Manana, but agrees to take relationship advice for a new Gettin' Nuts segment. They realize they don’t know how bananas reproduce.
Momo runs off when one her greatest fears enters the tavern: some twins.
Instead it is Jayme and Sayme Ragoon. The two are actually big fans of Gettin' Nuts, being able to listen through Squibbert, and they agree to be interviewed. Jayme's fears include Sayme dying. Sayme fears rejection. The two also are fearful of the out-of-doors, preferring to stay in the castle.
The Twins also tell of their "Merry Pranking." Their prank include locking their father in a giant doll house for months and forcing him to marry a doll, only to release him when he finally accepts his new life.
They also put nuts in his ears and eat them out. Talking about trees and pine nuts, Sayme reveals he has a secret garden (though Jayme suspects it’s imaginary). It does present the question of whether the twins are capable of acting independently, and whether they could continue on if the other died. Sayme says he’d kill himself if Jayme died, but Jayme would prefer to see if she could magically absorb Sayme’s essence to become one super twin. Usidore offers his services in that event.
Sayme tries some of his insult comedy to address the banana question.
A reader email suggests Season Two become a dating show. Usidore plays as a contestant with the twins vying for his attention. The twins are unable to role play as anyone less creepy or upsetting.
Momo returns both to face her fears, and share what she’s learned asking people on the streets about banana reproduction. They produce asexually, and she struggles not to be hurt by the implications for her relationship with Mayor Manana.
Sayme takes the show out with another round of his routine.
In poetry
With Arnie gone, it’s just the two-holed butts
to greet from taverns and to go get nuts.
Their podcast, now premiering season two,
must have a theme that’s good and also new.
First Usidore reflects that no one cares
when you’re a boy beneath a case of stairs.
And so he studied at Terr’akkas halls
ensuring death be ne’er an ill he falls.
A human-strengthed mouse, Momo, then appears
this spooky season to discuss some fears
(for Momo: cockroach clowns, twins, trees that tussle),
but mice fear Momo if they know her muscle.
In news, now Twosidore provides a house
For Mayor Manana and his girlfriend mouse.
The three discuss relationships (and vultures),
and roleplay problems known inside Foon cultures.
Bananas rot, but have they seeds for mice?
The badger-wizard pair attempt advice.
She thinks about the family she will make,
like names she’ll give and likely forms they’ll take.
A fun size Snickers almost takes Chunt’s breath.
Swears Usidore: he’d puppet him, post-death.
But Momo leaves until again she wins
her courage after sensing creepy twins.
The twins weird out both Chunt and Usidore,
They ask the twins if they’ve felt fear before.
If Sayme died and left his Jayme there,
by falling while above a topmost stair,
alone, the twin that did not fall down first,
would then absorb inside the twin now burst.
More likely than be scared, they’d scare away;
they spooked a whole amusement park one day.
A dollhouse, with a mom they’d made for dad,
trapped him behind some glass until he’d had
a time enough to calm down and not shout,
and finally the twins did let him out.
They kept him trapped about a half a year
but now place pine nuts to eat out his ear.
The twins personify the nuts on trees,
and wood and gardens that have secret keys.
Both Chunt and Usidore just want to kill
despite their better interviewing skill.
The twins fear just to be alone at all.
Solutions come from Usidore. Just call.
Next Sayme’s insult jokes seem not to steer
banana reproduction in the clear.
An e-mail asks for season two to be
a dating show, and so Chunt hosts the three.
The twins compete for love from Usidore,
but they give nothing he seems to long for.
Then Momo shows up with banana news.
She’s asked the streets for scientific views.
Most reproduce asexually for one.
They’re herbs with bulbs and roots and not much fun,
and also there are flowers first that bloom.
But Momo’s scared with twins in the same room.
The night ends with a sweet, sweet, Sayme joke,
but all it does is make the others choke.
