"Death Knight" is the seventy-seventh episode of season three of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on February 8, 2021.

Description

Kalahaxorus the Grim, an evil spirt in a suit of armor reflects on his life's purpose.

Summary

To hide himself and protect the fact that there’s an artifact in his head, Arnie is pretending to be an airline pilot. However, Usidore has another disguise for him; a burlap sack to be his second walking potato sack. Meanwhile, Chunt is still depressed over his separation from Eggy Baby. He asks Usidore to dip into necromancy to give him a new pet. His magic produces, Séance the Unconnected Floating Cat. Also, their head is where their tail should be and vice versa.

Currently, the group is at the Giggling Tick when they notice an ominous Death Knight. Despite his threatening appearance, he is quite awkward. His name is Kalhaxorus the Grim with a long name and a long resume. One of which was his slaying of the Gladwinds, who have disrupted where Kalhaxorus’s mortal body is. Kalhaxorus also serves the Red Queen Merzia and smote the Champion of Light. Although he has many accomplishments, he has yet to complete his purpose. Usidore is impressed by Kalhaxorus, so Usidore tries to recruit him. However Kalhaxorus‘s alliance lies with Evil, including the Dark Gods, namely Blath, the Dark God of Apathy.

Kalhaxorus has varying repute with the group Chunt is combative towards him after a random outburst from Kalhaxorus. Usidore has had various meetings with the Red Queen Merzia for the last 20 years. The two would talk about her cryptic prophecies and yearnings. Usidore’s most recent visit included the Red Queen’s regret about side with the darkness and wishes to reunite with Kalhaxorus.

Arnie plays devil’s advocate and tries to figure out if that is the best move for Kalhaxorus and what would make him happy. This causes Kalhaxorus to have an existential crisis as he is unsure if he needs evil to live or if he does truly lives for evil. He summons dark spirits for answers, prompting Usidore to smite them all with light.

Released from his alliance, Kalhaxorus is unsure what to do next. He settles on burning the town to the ground before Usidore reminds him that he would be going back to his evil ways again. Kalhaxorus agrees and greets them goodbye by tricking Usidore into a hug, impaling him, and bouncing on the check while gloating.
