"Sweet Prince Vantis" is the ninety-fourth episode of season three of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on June 7, 2021.

Description

Prince Vantis, still crazed after being asleep for 100 years, stops by Northeastia to challenge Prince Tomblaine for the Belaroth throne.

Summary

The Mysterious Man teases space born spiders eating the Earth’s internet. Tricia interrupts and asks the Mysterious Man to leave for a week so she can work on her One Clone Show, bribing with a gift certificate to Eataly. The Mysterious Man offers to stay, but Tricia did not want to hear any critics from him.

Back on Foon, the gang returns to The Rooster’s Left Foot. Chunt is a little down because he lost all his coin betting a crocodile that the crocodile could not eat his bag of coin. Arnie points out that the group is terrible with money. Arnie tried the Rule-it Wheel, however, the results change the rules with each spin. Meanwhile, Usidore is trying to convince the group to invest in his 401 Kaleidoscopes.

Arnie has also invited Tomblain Belaroth to the casino. He is looking for delegates now that he has, once again, accepted that he must take the throne. Usidore gives Tom the vial of poison from the Skinny Dogs and urges him not to take it. Tom then tries to get Arnie to drink it to understand his plight. When Arnie refuses, Tom then stabs Arnie with a dagger in order to get him to understand.

Chunt shows Tom that he is one of the top odds favorites to claim the throne, but Tom is displeased that he is not the top name, over seated by a Prince Carne Vantis. Coincidentally, the group hear Prince Vantis shouting across the way during their story when they have met him. Usidore calls the Prince over. He was playing The Crone’s Bones, a game where the bones of a crone are put into a bag and the winner is the one who guesses the bone on top when the bones are dumped out of the bag. Prince Vantis tells the group how he has been; after being betrayed by Usidore when he left him in the danger room, he was able to convince the constructs in the room that he is worth letting go. He is now determined to claim the throne of Northeastia of his own.

Tom is infuriated that Prince Vantis is trying to take his birthright. However, with every claim Tom has to the throne, Prince Vantis counters with his own qualifications, his rage from 100 years of sleep, and the sheer magnitude of his commanding presence. He could effortlessly command Usidore to bring back “The Vantis” for the group, but refuses to take it when the bar ran out of breastmilk and Usidore replaced it with his own. To prove he was not a coward, he drinks it, learning one of Usidore’s secret names in the process.

Chunt suggests that they have a town hall debate to prove who out of the two is more worthy. Prince Vantis excels in displaying his prowess. Tom’s biggest claim to fame is Danlet, but the group are disappointed that he did not act in the role on the main stage. Usidore suggests that Tom gives one of his famous monologues from the play. After his performance, the whole group is moved. Chunt suggests that Tom and Prince Vantis become co-kings, But Vantis misheard him to say “cocaine” which he offers to the group.

After the break, Prince Vantis and Tom become fast friends and decide to make a rhythm and bass band, along with Chunt. With their newly forged friendship, the names have shifted on the Royal pool. They go over the names on the board, including the fate of Sir Scootington and the town of Scootsville. Scoopsville is doing fine though. With this new bond, Vantis announces to the entire casino that he fully endorses Tomblain as King. In turn, Tom also announces his endorsement for Vantis as King. During this time, Chunt ate the bones from the Crone’s Bones, cursing him (again) and Arnie is bleeding out from the stab wound from the beginning of the episode. A bunch of Blues travelers come by to offer their assistance, including filling the wound with string cheese, but it is Usidore who heals him with magic. Tom feels responsible.

After all said and done, the name Corduroy Delight shoots up the leaderboard. Prince Vantis is ready to fight him to keep Tom on the throne, swearing his fealty as his new knight, the role he always wanted. Chunt and Tom play in their band to egg him on. Eventually, Prince Vantis kills one of the travelers.

  • "The Vantis" is a famous drink coined by Sweet Prince Vantis. There is no non-alcoholic version, but there is a no dairy version. The ingredients are as follows:
    • the tears of 3 different animals (tears of joy)
    • a vile of virgin blood
    • a bit of breastmilk
      • The breastmilk can be substituted with a plant based milk, a nut based milk, or bull semen. The last item was not sanctioned by Prince Vantis,
      • The type of milk given is dependent on the region.
      • Those who partake can feel the thoughts and emotions of the origins of the "milk"
  • One of Usidore's secret names is Carl Flance, a name he earned during his time looking for the secrets of the Dark Lord a few Hundred years back. Unfortunately he was tricked by his "brother-in-law", Rick Flance and is now required to pay all of his bills.
  • The Mysterious Man gives a shoutout to Paul Gray and his cover of the "Hey Sexy Dog" shanty. He also promotes his website TheWorstMate.com
