"Hairdresser" is the thirteenth episode of season four of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on January 23, 2022.

Description

A very strange local hairdresser named Ahag stop by the tavern.

Summary

After shafting Usidore in the previous episode, Arnie and Chunt want to make this week of the podcast all about Usidore. They plan to let Usidore go on and on with his name intro 40 times, so Arnie runs off to not be tempted in interrupting. Not only that Usidore did not pay too much mind being ignored, he is more focused on planning his new identity when he “dies” next week. He gives some examples of his options, such as Richard Jenkins and an ice elf.

Despite making a Usidore-centric episode, Arnie booked a guest for the show. Ahag is a hairdresser in town at The Splitting Hairs. Her store gets mistaken for To Kill a Wabbit, the hare splitting store across the street. However, the two shops help each other out in business, recommending each other’s stores to their clients. Ahag is pretty distinguished on her own merit. She had invented the ponytail and the pigtails, no matter what Hairy Styles and Swiney Tom say. Ahag has been living in Nibblebottom for as long as she could remember. Unfortunately, she can only remember the last four years. She says she had been concussed, when crows drop rocks onto people’s heads, causing them to blackout. Other side effects might include her ability to discern words as she is constantly changing what she is saying and, at times, cannot immediately remember what she had just said. To treat this and to feel better as a whole, she picks up pills from the river and takes at least six in a day.

Although Chunt and Arnie got their fur/hair cut last week, Chunt asked Ahag for a consultation for the three hosts. Ahag starts with Chunt and asks what he would like done to his fur. Chunt gets recommended some peanut butter to put onto his bare skin and to be applied by her. Arnie, who is working with natural brown hair and a black beard with gray in it, recommends his beard hair to be located where his hair is, his hair located around the back of his neck, and his moustache in a surprise location. Usidore is looking to appear more human as a disguise, but is recommended two ponytails, one in the front and one in the back, to confuse enemies in the direction he is facing.

In between consultations, the gang finds out more about Ahag’s idiosyncrasies. Due to the egg scrablies in her brain, she can get easily distracted. At one point, she had created a drawbridge with a water feature on a client. She knows how to minimize pain by singing, and can maximize pain by singing louder. She also has many bandanas, bangles, and rings, despite being single as constantly being pointed out by Chunt. Usidore tries to ask her out, but Ahag assumes that Usidore needs a notary and unintentionally ignores his advances. Ahag would love to further her career, one day hairdressing a narwhal and maybe franchising. However, she would not be able to leave town due to two year old son, Arson. Usidore mentions his cute age, so Ahag takes the opportunity to pawn him off to Usidore as quickly as possible.

Arnie notices her multiple tattoos, varying in different phrases, check marks, etc. Even the word “Single” is written all over her face. It serves almost as a permanent diary and Ahag realizes that she can do tattoos and probably has done most of them herself. She also lets the guys know that she is into comostology, where the cosmos tells her how to cut hair. Since they are business neighbors, Usidore offers any assistance he can provide within the week since he is dying soon. Ahag is sad that he is dying, but can still talk to him after his “death” since she can talk to the cosmos. Usidore’s attempts to woo finally works and they set up some time to spend with each other.

Before the podcast ends, Arnie sees one more tattoo on Ahag’s neck that says “I’m Secretly a Princess”. Ahag wonders what that might mean, while animals try to prepare clothes for her outside of the tavern and a tiara falls out of her pocket, which perfectly fits her. Ahag wants Usidore to check out a few more tattoos on her that she cannot see, but they wait until they leave the tavern.

Emails

  • SJ had just finished Season 4, Ep 5 - The Baron Visits. Although they enjoy hearing from Baron Ragoon, they are disappointed on the group dissing on Dripfang. Dripfang maybe evil, but they still love him and they ship the Baron and Dripfang. They also doubt that the hosts read the emails anymore. The guys have fun shouting into the void, but ultimately stand by what they said as Arnie still cannot forgive Dripfang for stabbing him and Usidore swears to slay evil, even though he respects Dripfang.
