"Deputy Administrator" is the twenty-ninth episode of season four of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on May 29, 2022.

Description

Gouda Smish stops by to talk about doing administrative work in the Nibblebottom government and having secret plans.

Summary

After coming from Hogsfacer, the guys just barely makes it back to the Strange Familiar to start the podcast. Arnie greets the patrons, but he is mostly ignored. Usidore must resume the guise of Dorisue, to which the other two try to remember if they buried anything as a remembrance to Usidore's "death". Dorisue suggests to bury his cats as Usidore had many. This makes Chunt remember his own undead cat, Séance, whom they buried before entering Nibblebottom. Chunt goes to check while Arnie starts the podcast.

Once Chunt realizes that Séance is okay and remarks about the other Floating Cat around the tavern, he asks if they had any guests to interview. Conveniently, they do. Gouda Smish is an 8'1'' figure with a rather meek demeanor when his glasses are on. He is the representative of the local government of Nibblebottom, a deputy administrator and the secretary of the city council office, specifically for the sheriff in town. Although Nibblebottom is relatively quiet, albeit the rumbles from Mount Slobodan, he is relegated to menial tasks when there are things that can be done. The group gets sidetracked while Chunt and Arnie ask for "uppies" from Gouda.

Despite being "young", about 7-8 tall years, Gouda had already started a memoir about his life, called "You Can't Arrest A Mountain". Dorisue asks for an excerpt, highlighting an accomplishment that he had made. Gouda shares a small presentation he gave to the sheriff, proposing better city sanitation. Nibblebottom is seems to have big shits everywhere to the point there are tumbleweeds made out of literal shit. The plan was never implemented due to overall incompetency. The sheriff, later revealed to be Nit, does not appreciate all of Gouda's efforts, so Dorisue offers to write up a recommendation letter, praising Gouda. While he writes, Arnie asks what they can do to help, while Chunt's odd statements give Gouda the impression that he has a strange relationship with dairy.

Arnie offers to confront Sheriff Nit and share Gouda's ideas, which Gouda takes offense to as he thinks it will take someone else to accomplish his goals. Dorisue asks about Gouda's other ideas that he has for the town. It includes cleaning up the streets, cleaning up the shit weeds, mass executions, the writing of the postal system and grocery store restocking. Arnie is very interested in Gouda's grocery store restocking, but Dorisue tries to backtrack to the mass executions. Gouda covers for his verbal slip up, but still asks for the names of people in town that would not be missed. Dorisue warns Arnie to run. Dorisue also refuses to give any names on his account, lest he becomes complicit. Chunt, however, names the person he was in a fight with previously and Gouda himself via metaphor, which he does not initially recognize. Irritated, Gouda asks for their names to write down. When Arnie comes back, he mentions a pervert who has already written a list of people to murder, aggravating Gouda more.

Gouda tells the guys about Nibblebottom's record keeping that is shoddy, at best. In the library, there is a book on how to defeat the Dark Lord. Dorisue investigates this further, even though it is not needed as the Dark Lord is "already dead". There are also some graphic novels. Chunt starts reading from a graphic novel that he has, which turns out to be Gouda's memoirs. The information inside is quite alarming and even plans for future events that Gouda wishes would come true. Chunt straight up asks if Gouda is evil, to which he skirts the question a little bit and gives the classic "You and I are the same '' phrase. He threatens to destroy more of the roof than he already has.

The group finishes reading some emails and Dorisue comes to the conclusion that Chunt's obsessions with dairy is coming from Gouda, as his name is a cheese. Dorisue thanks Gouda for being on, but puts him on his list of evil doers that will have to be vanquished. Gouda balks at the double standard, especially that Dorisue's will comes from the goddesses. He also reveals that he voices. Arnie admonishes both of them for their reasons to kill.

However, Arnie doesn't think he would, but he does have the artifact in his head that allows him to interact with his life back on Earth through his dreams. Chunt wonders if the emailer is talking about this Foon, since they are aware of other Foons, then proceeds to ponder about dairy more.
