Description

Arnor the Warrior returns to finally fight Arnie to the death.

Summary

The Mysterious Man gives his intro, but begins to hear voices again momentarily. He decides he’ll have to investigate, then plays this week’s episode.

Today in the Strange Familiar, Chunt presents Arnie with a special black and white shield from his smith called the “Arnie Shield.” Usidore has enchanted the shield to protect Arnie from other Arnies, meaning himself. They chat about Usidore’s ghost horse until they’re interrupted by Arnor the Warrior, donning disheveled robes, and who has come to kill Arnie.
Arnie is surprised Arnor is so mad when things were pretty calm between them, but Arnor is adamant that is time for their showdown. Chunt preemptively gets Arnie a double red potion, and soon after Usidore gets red potions for everyone as the hosts try to defuse the situation.
Arnor explains that he offered Maribel his body so she could leave the Soul Walker. She inhabited his body and all was well, but only for a time. Maribel couldn’t live in Arnor’s soul forever, as his soul is tainted with shame. Arnor says he’s haunted by how Arnie's six month extension to earning his name has turned into seven years.
Arnor demands Arnie draws a weapon. Chunt warns Arnie he can’t use shape shifting and Usidore can’t use magic to help him due to the rules of Magical Appreciation Month, as magic users can’t use magic for violence.
Arnor gives Arnie his sword, planning to fight him with his bare hands. Arnie can barely lift the sword and tries to talk things out with Arnor, but Arnor refuses. Arnie begins to freak out from how serious Arnor is, and because Chunt and Usidore had given him a red potion for the first time in years.
Arnie tries to stall by filibustering but Arnor approaches anyways. But then, Arnor gets caught in his robes and trips, falling against Arnie’s new shield, then impaling himself on his own sword. Chunt realizes that the shield’s enchantment must protect Arnie from Arnors too, not just Arnies.
Arnor is dying, and doesn’t want anyone to know how shameful of a death this will be for him. Usidore tries to encourage Arnor, saying that since it was his own sword he ran himself into, it’s more like the only person who could beat Arnor is Arnor. As Arnor is about to die, Usidore comes clean about everything: that he isn’t a ghost, that the Dark Lord isn’t dead, and that he’s trapped in their basement. Arnor gives his last words, then passes.
Arnie and Chunt try to figure out what to put on Arnor’s tombstone, and Usidore becomes irritated from their lack of mourning. Usidore also explains he couldn’t save Arnor due to an interaction between the shield’s magic and the sword. Arnie has technically killed Arnor, and now Arnie is officially the greatest warrior in all of Foon.
Arnie begins to address the gawking tavern goers when he slips on soup. Usidore helps him up, warning him that they have to keep a low profile, which will be difficult to do with Arnie now being Foon’s greatest warrior. He will now be a target.
Chunt and Usidore begin to look Arnor’s body. They find Arnor’s final will and testament:
“This is the final will and testament of Arnor the warrior. The great hero and mighty destroyer. If by some happenstance I am killed, hear now know what here has been willed. I give my sword in my death, and here now with my final breath, my sword shall lie with me under ground, and no more shall it cause a killing sound. The rest, do with what you will’t, let me keep only my blade and hilt. And so now I go to death with zeal, saying to all, ‘keep it real.’”
Chunt takes Arnor’s lion skin cape, and Usidore departs to dig Arnor’s grave at the top of the hill around the bend, where the sunrise will hit his grave at the hill crest. Arnie, solemn, apologizes to Arnor for having any kind of part in him dying, and that Arnor felt he wasn’t released from his shame. The boys struggle to carry Arnor to his grave.
