"Town Daddy's Brother" is the sixth episode of season four of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on November 21, 2021.

Description

The beloved Town Daddy has been murdered. But the Town Daddy's suspicious brother is here.

Summary

As winter approaches in Foon, Arnie complains to Chunt about how cold it is getting in Nibblebottom. However, as a badger, Chunt does not really notice the difference. He also tells Arnie that he is now thinking about running for Town Zaddy and asks for "Beautiful Arnold's" help. He leans in to reveal that he does not like eating grubs, despite being a badger. Usidore announces that he is now an Official Wizards Choice Award Nominee for his victory over the Dark Lord. But when the two see that he will be awarded "posthumously", Usidore reminds them that eventually he will disappear after completing his "true purpose". Chunt offers to accept Usidore's award in his place.

As the group discusses the Wizard Choice Awards, they hear shouting from below the tall table. Arnie invites the person up to join them and the man immediately questions their residency and their ability to vote. Usidore has already forwarded all his birds to come to town. Chunt has a hovel (or hoble) and can do same day voting registration. The man then introduces himself as Kevrat the current Town Uncle, who feels like being Town Daddy is a given since his brother, Alexion, was the former Town Daddy. Arnie gives his condolences, but Kevrat seems unfazed. He goes on to describe his brother being the "golden child", the one who has received their parents' love and adoration while Kevrat has a broken torso, did not go to college, and is currently jobless. Kevrat brags about knowing how to party while his brother did not and is constantly shafted as he has been living with disability, has been spending all his money on pipe weed and the care of his pets.

Kevrat asks the group why Alexion was so beloved. Many of their responses are from second or third hand accounts and the positive reception is countered quickly by Kevrat. As he brags about his flame sharks, Kevrat also brings up that he raises psychoprawns, which are hallucinogens. When Chunt struggles to answer Kevrat when asked if he likes grubs or not, Kevrat offers him the psychoprawns to loosen up. Chunt starts to feel the effects almost immediately; saying his thoughts out loud, loss of motor skills, cannot perceive time. It does not help that he is also drunk. To blow his mind, Kevrat switches rainbow bowls with Chunt and implies poisoning.

All Kevrat wants to do is to tell people to eat psychoprawns, collect samurai swords, and stay at home and look at fish. He feels that his brother did not have the same loose qualities that he has and is resentful towards him given Alexion’s status with his parents and the town. He acts as if he has already won Town Daddy and Chunt and Usidore are already on board to vote for him.

Arnie questions Kevrat’s role with his brother’s death and Kevrat is immediately offended. However, he deflects heavily, despite going into detail on how Alexion could have died, as if he was there. Kevrat then turns the tables on Arnie, despite not having a valid alibi for himself and revealing more motive for himself. Chunt and Usidore are more than happy to vouch for Kevrat’s innocence in the matter. The final straw comes from Arnie, who reveals that the receipt lists poison for Kevrat to use. Kevrat insists that he will use the poison at a later date. After his head clears up a bit, Usidore then sides with Arnie and insists on a punishment for Kevrat for murdering his brother. He creates a hollowed graham to trick Kevrat to admit his actions, which fails.

Although Kevrat has made strides to help Chunt and Usidore with their personal problems (he did not care for Arnie as he had accused him of murder), he goes off to campaign to the other tables. Chunt still maintains his support to Kevrat, but Arnie does not understand his plans to gain favor from the group only for him to try to kill them anyway. In the end, only Arnie is adamant that Kevrat killed his brother.
