"Mailmanmen" is the sixty-first episode of season five of Hello from the Magic Tavern. It was originally released on June 22, 2025.
Description
Sendor Mailmanmen is a mailman with no magical powers but a troubling curse.
Summary
Arnie, Chunt, and Usidore are still traveling and have stopped at a tavern called The Dumb Pig, where the drinks are served in troughs and have various punny names. After escaping prison at the Topless Tower and resolving the Animal War, they have been feeling a bit directionless. Usidore cast a compass spell to point them to their next stop, which will help them defeat the wizards.
A mailman bursts into the tavern and the hosts are eager to invite him to be their guest. His name is Sendor Mailmanmen and he has been cursed to fall asleep for years at a time; when he wakes he hasn't aged at all. This makes it tough for him to keep up with his job. He comes from a long line of ice-cream-men who worked in the ice cream mines, but he rebelled, instead seeking to be a mailman. Throughout the episode, he expresses little care or consideration for other beings and is single-mindedly focused on vengeance.
Chunt and Usidore observe his name is similar to some of the people of Strong Guy Island. Arnie can't remember much about Strong Guy Island and distracts his co-hosts by expressing his affection for them. They have a big group hug with Sendor and some pigs (inadvertently).
Sendor pulls out old mail for all three. Arnie receives many periodicals depicting women behaving "on the wild side", including one called Barely Forty-Five. Usidore receives old mail calling him for jury duty, and he is briefly concerned that he broke the law, but it turns out one can opt out if they're busy defending Foon from the forces of evil. Chunt finds out that there was a funeral for one of his aunts 17 years ago.
Sendor falls asleep midway through a sentence but thankfully wakes back up after a few seconds. Among the mail he has to deliver is out of date newspapers. He pulls out a newspaper about the explosion of the Challenger Cart forty years ago.
Arnie asks why Sendor's name and various horny comments are written all over his magazines. Sendor is defensive but then admits it's his doing. Usidore inquires if Sendor is still in contact with his ice cream family, but he says he has been shunned. In revenge, he has been withholding his family's important mail. Usidore encourages him to visit his family. Unfortunately, it is likely that they are dead from the hard labor of the ice cream mines, perhaps with mint lung. Sendor is apathetic about this fact.
The group decides to open up his family's mail since they're probably all deceased. They find various bills as well as a letter addressed to his father that seems to imply an extramarital affair. The letter also reads, "Sendor must never know that I am his mother" and expresses love for him. Rocked by the revelation, Sendor wonders if he should take revenge on his birth mother in place of the parents who raised him, assuming she is alive. They speculate that she may have passed down her sleeping issues to him.
Usidore casts a compass spell on Sendor to help him find his mother, using a crystal ball. In the middle of the spell preparations, Sendor falls asleep, and as he wakes up he violently flings the ball across the tavern. Luckily, Chunt catches it.
After casting the spell, Usidore instructs him to look around the bar to see if he sees anyone who might be his mother. Sendor sobers up with a hot trough-ee then approaches a woman named Sandra. She looks familiar; he asks if she's in Barely Forty-Five, which she confirms. He then asks if she's his mother. Sandra emotionally affirms that she is, but falls asleep midway through her sentence. Upon reawakening, Sandra explains that after an affair with Sendor's father, she tricked his wife into thinking she had been pregnant for nine months. Sendor is angry that Sandra messed up his revenge plan and she points out that they've been dead for decades anyhow.
As Sendor compliments Sandra's appearance in a weird way, Chunt expresses concern to Arnie that this may be a set up, as it seems highly coincidental that Sendor's mother was in the exact same tavern as him. Chunt is also suspicious that neither person falls asleep for longer than a few seconds and wonder if they might just be tired, rather than having any special condition.
Sandra invites Sendor over for dinner for soup, implying she will poison it, and Sandor agrees. Sandra also admits that Sandor's apparent father wasn't his biological father, but rather he had been tricked to believe the baby was his. Sandor's biological father is actually the Duke of Gumbleshpitt. After she covers Sendor's tab at the bar, they have a two-person group hug and are then about to head out.
Arnie, concerned, checks in with him. Sendor finally realizes she might actually have ulterior motives. A slow-clapping Sandra approaches, revealing that she had been lurking in the tavern awaiting Sendor. She announces she will now kill them all with her knives. Sendor seizes the knife and stabs her instead.
About to die, Sandra shares that Sendor's failure to deliver mail has devastated the pornographic magazine industry and that they sent her to kill him. The group decide to blame Sandra's murder on a scape-pig, and Sendor departs, feeling that he was able to get his revenge.
Amid the mail, the hosts find the magazine Hidden Magical Items Monthly addressed to Usidore. The periodical holds information about a powerful magical weapon to defeat the wizards in the wizard war, and it is located in Hogsface. Usidore tries to claim that the magazine's magical power is what disrupted his earlier mother-finding spell. They decide to head to Hogsface next.
