"Milkmaiden" is the fifth episode of the Usidore's Fetching Quests! miniseries. It was originally released on November 4, 2020.
Description
Usidore, and his friend Grimhoof, meet a milkmaiden who definitely is not in a cult.
Summary
Usidore & Grimhoof's quest leads them to a dragon farm. They meet Bothy, a dragon milkmaid. The dragon requires a sacrifice every time it is milked, and Bothy is hoping she will be chosen next. A small doll, called the klagga, is baked into a meatpie, and the milkmaid who finds the klagga in her slice is fed to the dragon, after which the others may milk it safely. Bothy's best friend was the last chosen, and shortly afterward she became involved with the farmer, Jimothy, so she is pretty much at the top of the milkmaid hierarchy, but she is eager to fulfill her purpose.
Usidore & Grimhoof are aghast and resolve to rescue Bothy from the farm, despite her insisting she is happy there. When asked to imagine other fates for herself her scenarios are all similar to current situation, with a man overseeing a large group of women who are regularly killed.
When it time to serve the pie with the klagga Usidore, Grimhoof interrupt, grabbing it the klagga and offering to save the milkmaidens. Bothy & the other maidens instead attack them and they flee. Once they're a safe distance from the farm they discuss how the milkmaidens may be beyond saving, though Usidore does resolve to go to Bothy's home town and destroy the monument to the local hero, "Big Straw" Finger, as he concludes its inspired an over-developed desire for self-sacrifice.
